Activities 2000
Since the founding of The Wallah Fund in May 2000, the association has committed itself tofinding support for four projects in Tibet and two in Nepal. Through donations and sales, The Wallah Fund has raised $30'000 during the first year of its existence. This money has been distributed to the following projects and associations:


Projects in Tibet



The Blind School
Set up in 1999 by Sabriye Tenberken and Paul Kronenberg, the Project for the Blind/ Lhasa is the first and the only organisation in the Tibet Autonomous Region to help, train and support the blind in Tibet.

Nomads

P.S.T.T.M. is a project set up recently by a group of Tibetan doctors in Lhasa concerned with improving the conditions of public health in the countryside through promoting the rediscovery of the techniques of traditonal Tibetan medecine.

Gyalzur

Resposible for more than 70 children in two orphanages, Tendol Gyalzur is trying to establish a programme of scholarships for the further studies ans professional training of the older children in her homes.

Projects in Nepal



Shelter
Since 1988, The Women's Foundation has been running a number of important programmes in Nepal in order to improve the situation of women in the country. The Wallah Fund supports in particular "The Shelter", a safe haven and training centre for the victims of various forms of serious abuse.

JWDC
Through a variety of artistic and craft programmes, the Janakpur Women's Development Centre aims at empowering local women by renewing their traditional skills and abilities. The centre has brought together women of all castes and is run democratically by the artists themselves.
